In general, the summers are hot and dry, with daytime temperatures ranging from 25–32°C in the north, and 30–38°C in the south and on the islands.
September-November is a milder, more comfortable time to travel, temperature-wise. The North sees temperatures of 12–22°C, the centre 15–24°C, and the South and islands 18–26°C. October means increased rainfall, especially in the north and along western coasts.
Winter is cool and wet in Italy, with temperatures dipping well below 8°C in the North. If you plan to visit central Italy, expect slightly warmer temperatures of 5–12°C.
In Spring (March–May), the air clears, and the weather is mild, but it’s beginning to warm up. The North enjoys comfortable temperatures of 12–22°C, the centre 15–24°C, and the South and islands are a balmy 16–25°C.
