Tour Itinerary

Bassano del grappa

Day 1 UK to Venice

Today you will fly to Venice and transfer to your accommodation for the week in Bassano del Grappa . You will get to know your fellow travelling companions over a drink and dinner this evening.

Marostica

Day 2 Bassano & Marostica

This morning you will enjoy a walking tour through Bassano with a visit to the historic centre to see the Piazza Garibaldi and Palladian Bridge - a masterpiece of wooden engineering that has captivated visitors for over 800 years. Afterwards, you'll have free time to continue exploring, perhaps lingering at a traditional café or exploring the local artisan stalls. We will then meet up together at the Poli Grappa Distillery Museum, where we'll learn the fascinating story of grappa-making—a tradition deeply woven into Veneto's identity where a grappa tasting will be included. After lunch at leisure we will make our way to Marostica, a fairy tale medieval town surrounded by impressive, fortified walls. Legend has it that a chess match was played here in the 15th century to decide the hand of a local maiden—and the tradition continues every two years with a living chess game in the town square. After exploring the town centre, we will return to the hotel for dinner.

Day 3 Bassano del Grappa - Free Time

Today you choose a day at leisure, or choose to take part in the optional excursion to visit Vicenza which is world famous for its classic Palladian architecture. Firstly we will visit Villa Capra La Rotonda, designed in the 16th Century for the Capra family, this villa is known for its perfect symmetry and proportions influenced significantly by classical Roman architecture. Afterwards we will move to Teatro Olimpico, the worlds oldest surviving indoor theatre stage set, completed in 1585. It is one of the 3 remaining renaissance theatres in existence and is still used several times a year. There will then be free time for lunch and time at leisure to make your own discoveries before we return back to the hotel for a late afternoon at leisure before dinner.

Venice

Day 4 Venice

Today we will depart from our hotel and make our way to the world-renowned floating city of Venice. Upon arrival at the terminal we will board a private boat to Caserma Cornoldi where we will meet a guide for a guided walking tour. During this time we will visit some of the city's most iconic highlights including St Mark's Basilica with its stunning Byzantine Basilica, Scala Contarini del Bovolo and Rialto. Ending the tour at Rialto Bridge you’ll then have plenty of time to explore at leisure. Lose yourself in the narrow alleyways lined with galleries and boutiques, cross quaint bridges that lead to hidden piazzas and watch as gondolas glide along peaceful canals. We will then make our way back via the private boat back to the hotel where dinner will be served at the hotel.

Verona

Day 5 Shakespeare's Verona

After breakfast we will depart from the hotel to the UNESCO world-heritage listed city of Verona where Shakespeare's star-crossed lovers are remembered. A city full of history, culture and remarkably preserved architecture reflecting over 2000 years of cultural influence. Upon arrival in Verona we will take a guided visit to one of the most famous sights in the city, Juliet's Balcony, after this we will visit one of Italy's best-preserved Roman amphitheatre, and the third largest surviving amphitheatre in Europe. You will then have some free time to explore the city, perhaps take a visit to the perfectly preserved Roman Mercato Vecchio, the commercial centre in the Middle age where souvenirs are still sold, or take a visit to the Scaliger tombs where the Scala family rest within impressive Gothic architecture. Upon returning back to the hotel a Spritz Experience is included before enjoying dinner.

Day 6 Bassano Del Grappa - Free Time

Enjoy a day at leisure today, or if you would like to explore more of this beautiful region, join todays optional excursion to Lake Garda. Firstly we will depart to Sirmione, a medieval town on set on a peninsula on the southern shore of Lake Garda. After a tour around the area we will board a public boat to Bardolino. Located at the foot of the Morainic hills, this city is famous for its extra virgin olive oil production and its name sake red wine. The picturesque alleys and narrow streets display ancient history leading out to the beaches of Lake Garda. After free time for lunch, We will then travel to Soave, a medieval village famous for its preserved ancient wall and production of white wine. This evening we will make our way back to the hotel for dinner.

The Dolomites

Day 7 The Dolomites

Departing the hotel this morning, we will make our way to Fiera di Primiero, this small village has origins which date back to 1400 and sits at the foot of Monte Bedole. After a wander around the town, we will then depart to San Martino di Castrozza which is located 1450 metres above sea level in the heart of Pale di San Martino Nature Park. Free time will allow you to explore the town and enter the craft boutiques and shops, and eat in one of the traditional restaurants in the town. Afterwards we will travel through the Rolle Pass mountain pass and experience breathtaking views across the Dolomites. We will then make our way back to the hotel for a final dinner all together.

Day 8 Venice to UK

After breakfast, we’ll transfer to Venice airport for your return flight to the UK.

Deposit information

When you book a holiday, you will be asked to pay a deposit, this will be made clear at the time of booking. In most cases we will charge the following deposit amount;

  • UK Holidays - £150 per person
  • European Holidays - £200 per person
  • Worldwide Holidays - £400 per person
  • Ocean and River Cruise - £400 per person


On some holidays we may charge a slightly higher deposit, to cover any costs we have to pay immediately to secure your booking with our suppliers. This will be made clear at the time of booking.

If you choose a tour that is within 84 days of departure you will need to pay the full balance when you book.

Our cancellation policy

If you decide to cancel your confirmed booking you must notify us (or your travel agent) in writing, as soon as possible. Since we incur costs in cancelling your arrangements, you will have to pay the applicable cancellation charges up to the maximum shown below.

  • More than 75 days before departure - Loss of deposit only
  • 43 - 74 days - 50% of tour price
  • 29 - 42 days - 75% of tour price
  • 15 - 28 days - 90% of tour price
  • Day of Departure - 14 days - 100% of tour price
