WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO GO FOR CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS?

The answer to that question depends entirely on your preferred experience. Whether you dream of winter sunshine, festive city lights or an unforgettable adventure, there’s a Just You holiday to suit.

Winter Sunshine

Christmas away from the UK’s winter chill can be a great way to end the year on a high. In Northern Cyprus, you can walk along the beach and explore pretty towns. In Andalucía, you’ll find a relaxed pace, whitewashed villages and local celebrations that blend authentic Spanish culture with festive cheer. Christmas on the Amalfi Coast is also a wonderful choice – the area is beautiful in December, with some clear and sunny spells to be enjoyed as you take in the stunning scenery.

UK City Breaks

Stay closer to home and soak up seasonal sparkle in characterful cities. York’s medieval streets and twinkling markets, Brighton’s lively celebrations and Harrogate’s historic sights all deliver atmosphere in spades. Enjoy cosy pubs, festive afternoon teas and plenty of guided sightseeing – plus the ease of short travel times and familiar comforts.

Christmas Markets

Embrace storybook charm with snow-dusted squares, Christmas markets and steaming mugs of glühwein. Cities like Vienna, Prague and Budapest blend grand architecture with carols, crafts and candlelit concerts. It’s an excellent choice if you love culture, café stops and that unmistakable old-world ambience.

Adventure Seekers

Looking to venture a little further. On a festive break in India, you can browse markets, see monuments and historic temples, and enjoy the sunshine. On our Spirit of India tour, you’ll explore Old Delhi, cruise the Ganges, and visit the Taj Mahal. Or choose our escorted New York City break to spend the season discovering the city that never sleeps and the sights of Manhattan.

Whatever trip you take, you’ll come home with unforgettable memories – the perfect cure for winter blues.

WHICH ARE THE BEST CHRISTMAS MARKETS TO VISIT?

Christmas markets have been part of the season since the 16th century, and they’re still at the heart of festive fun today. A number of cities have become well known for their rows of twinkling stalls, selling everything from unique gifts to sweet treats:

  • Budapest – Soak up the festive buzz with chimney cakes, spicy sausages, and handcrafted gifts. If you’re after Christmas spirit, you’ll find it here.

  • Vienna – Expect beautiful, historic backdrops to this city’s Christmas markets. Shop charming wooden toys, elegant ornaments and a delicious range of traditional pastries.

  • Prague – Wander the medieval Old Town with a cup of hot mulled wine. Browse stalls adorned wth glowing fairy lights, where you’ll find Czech festive treats and beautiful crafts.

  • Harrogate – This elegant Victorian spa town is a lovely setting for a traditional Christmas. Expect pretty decorations, historic streets, and markets full of handmade finds and tasty treats.

  • Oxford – This festive market brings a touch of European magic to the historic university city. Quaint wooden stalls serve mince pies and sell unique gifts, all set against the backdrop of the city’s stunning college buildings.

WHAT IF I’M A FIRST-TIME SOLO TRAVELLER?

It’s normal to feel nervous about travelling solo, especially in the festive season.

You’re not alone – we’re experts at helping solo travellers feel relaxed and enjoy their trip. Our holidays are fully planned, with support, chances to make new friends, and time to explore at your own pace.

Every trip has a dedicated Holiday Director to guide you and bring like-minded travellers together. With Just You, you’ll feel welcomed and supported from day one.

WILL I HAVE TIME TO MYSELF?

Like all our holidays, you can enjoy the experience your way – if that means taking some time for yourself, that’s absolutely fine. You’ll join your group for any included excursions, but there’s plenty of free time too. Choose from optional trips, explore on your own or meet a few fellow travellers to go sightseeing or relax with a drink – it’s entirely up to you.

We also host social moments like welcome drinks and farewell get-togethers, which are a nice way to spend time with other solo travellers. They’re entirely optional – there’s no pressure to join if you’d prefer some time by yourself.

WILL I NEED TO PAY A SINGLE SUPPLEMENT?

No. Unlike some solo travel companies, we don’t charge extra for your own room – that’s included with Just You.

With so much to see, do and taste during our holidays, having a relaxing private space to unwind each day is essential to make the most of your trip.

WHO TRAVELS WITH JUST YOU?

Pretty much anyone and everyone. Everyone in your group is travelling solo and shares a love of adventure and seeing the world. There’s usually a good mix of ages too (please note, we can’t accept bookings from under-18s), so you’ll meet people with different levels of life experience. That mix really adds to the trip – and there are always plenty of laughs along the way.

WHAT HAPPENS ON CHRISTMAS DAY?

Christmas Day abroad will feel a little different from home, but in the best way – new places, friendly faces and a warm, sociable atmosphere. Our holidays bring like-minded solo travellers together, and your Holiday Director is on hand to make the day feel relaxed and memorable.

Most tours include a celebratory Christmas meal with the group – sometimes lunch, sometimes dinner – and plenty of time to unwind at your hotel or explore nearby. Exact plans vary by destination and itinerary, so check your chosen tour for the specific Christmas Day inclusions.

WHAT IS THE NEW YEAR’S EVE CELEBRATION LIKE?

Seeing in the New Year on a Just You festive holiday is relaxed, sociable, and well organised.

You’ll celebrate with your tour group – often with a special dinner or gala and a glass of fizz – and your Tour Director will be there to make sure the evening runs smoothly. How you mark the moment depends on the destination. Some tours feature a hotel gala, others a celebratory group dinner, and there’s usually time in the day to unwind or explore, so you’re ready for the countdown.

Specific celebrations vary by trip, so check your chosen tour for the exact New Year’s Eve plans. Cheers to the year ahead!
