Tour Overview

Our Rhine journey starts in Cologne, with a night spent in the city with time to explore at leisure. We’ll then cruise through the Middle Rhine Valley and immerse ourselves in fascinating culture and wonderful scenery as history comes alive on the banks of the Rhine. We’ll tour the old spa town of Wiesbaden and sail by Lorelei Rock, where legend has it a mermaid seduced sailors with her songs. We’ll also visit Strasbourg, the border town along the Rhine, whilst today it is a centre for Europe with the European Parliament and European Court of Human Rights located here, its centre is a historical UNESCO World Heritage Site. We’ll also explore the wine-making town of Rudesheim, including a cable car ride to the Niederwald Monument.

Day 1 UK - Brussels - Cologne

Make your own way to London St Pancras to catch the Eurostar to Brussels. On arrival, we'll transfer by coach to our hotel in Cologne where we'll meet our fellow travellers over a welcome drink and dinner. Meals included: D

Day 2 Cologne

After a free morning in Cologne, we'll transfer to our Nicko Cruises ship for an afternoon embarkation. After time to settle into our cabins, dinner will be served onboard. Meals included: B,D
Wiesbaden

Day 3 Wiesbaden

We’ll wake up this morning in Wiesbaden where we’ll enjoy a city tour of the Heissan capital. Thanks to its numerous thermal and mineral springs, Wiesbaden is one of the oldest cultural spas in Europe. You can then enjoy an afternoon relaxing onboard, or why not take an optional city tour of Mainz, known for its 1000-year old cathedral (book and pay onboard the cruise). Meals included: B,L,D
Mannheim - Ludwigshafen

Day 4 Mannheim - Ludwigshafen

This morning we wake in Mannheim. Located at the confluence of the Rhine and Neckar Rivers, the Mannheim Baroque Palace is well worth a visit and it has lovely shopping and parks to explore. We’ll enjoy time at leisure, with an optional excursion of Heidelberg with its picturesque historic castle available (book and pay onboard the cruise). Meals included: B,L,D
Strasbourg - Kehl

Day 5 Strasbourg - Kehl

Today we’ll enjoy a tour of Strasbourg, the border town along the Rhine, visiting its historical centre which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We’ll walk through the picturesque quarter where tanners once dried leather and furs in the open lofts of the well-preserved half-timbered houses. We then continue by coach and pass the Rhine Palace, National Library and the Opera. A guided walking tour through the fascinating narrow streets of 'Petit France' follows where we’ll see the historic guesthouses, delicatessens and elegant boutiques before arriving at the Cathedral of Notre-Dame, where the astronomical clock chimes on the hour, bringing the different figures to life. Rudesheim - Koblenz

Day 6 Rudesheim - Koblenz

We’ll enjoy a leisurely morning cruising, passing by the famous Lorelei Rock, where legend tells the story of the beautiful and melancholy siren whose song enchanted passing sailors. We arrive in Rudesheim for a walking tour of this enchanting UNESCO world heritage town which is dotted with half-timbered houses. A trip on a cable car to the Niederwald Monument rounds of this excursion with beautiful views of the Rhine valley. After lunch, we arrive into Koblenz where you can explore at leisure or take an optional tour with a guided walk through the city centre of one Germany's oldest cities (book and pay onboard the cruise). Day 7 Cologne - Brussels - UK

After breakfast onboard, we'll disembark the ship in Cologne and transfer to Brussels for the Eurostar to London St Pancras. Meals included: B

Deposit information

When you book a holiday, you will be asked to pay a deposit, this will be made clear at the time of booking. In most cases we will charge the following deposit amount;

  • UK Holidays - £150 per person
  • European Holidays - £200 per person
  • Worldwide Holidays - £400 per person
  • Ocean and River Cruise - £400 per person


On some holidays we may charge a slightly higher deposit, to cover any costs we have to pay immediately to secure your booking with our suppliers. This will be made clear at the time of booking.

If you choose a tour that is within 84 days of departure you will need to pay the full balance when you book.

Our cancellation policy

If you decide to cancel your confirmed booking you must notify us (or your travel agent) in writing, as soon as possible. Since we incur costs in cancelling your arrangements, you will have to pay the applicable cancellation charges up to the maximum shown below.

  • More than 75 days before departure - Loss of deposit only
  • 43 - 74 days - 50% of tour price
  • 29 - 42 days - 75% of tour price
  • 15 - 28 days - 90% of tour price
  • Day of Departure - 14 days - 100% of tour price

It is important to remember that passport, visa and health requirements can change before departure; therefore, we recommend you regularly familiarise yourself with the latest requirements before you travel. If you cannot travel because you have not complied with any passport/entry/immigration requirements, we are unable to accept any responsibility.

For some destinations, it is not always discernable that a visa is required for entry at the border.  For example, for some customers, to travel to the United States, an ESTA may be required. For Canada, an ETA and to India, an e-visa may be needed. Please do check your requirements to avoid any unnecessary cost and delays.
