A slightly larger island than Hvar, Brac is home to Zlatni Rat, a tongue-shaped pebble beach that reaches into turquoise water at Bol. Framed by pine groves and a mountain backdrop, it’s one of Europe’s most photographed beaches.
Yet Brac is far more than a single showstopper. Venture inland, and you’ll find an island shaped by stone and tradition. Its fine white limestone, quarried for centuries, has been used to build many of the finest churches, palaces and harbour towns in the region. A short ferry ride from Dubrovnik, the Elafiti Islands promise clear, shimmering water, car-free lanes and a slower, more peaceful pace. Sandy coves are rare in Dalmatia, but you’ll find them here, perfect for a leisurely swim and a lazy afternoon by the sea.
