Solheimar Eco-Village

Solheimar, was founded in 1930 as a non-profit sustainable community, and currently supports over 100 residents, primarily individuals with different abilities. Committed to the social inclusion of people from diverse range of backgrounds and sustainable living, the small village hosts various businesses, including a café, art workshops, organic greenhouses, and guesthouses, to provide residents with a sense of empowerment and purpose.

Planeterra provided a grant to the village to support the renovation and establishment of a café for visitors, and by collaborating with Just You, more travellers will have the opportunity to tour the community's various workshops and green initiatives, as well as dine in the newly renovated café.

During the Icelandic Splendours tour, you will visit Solheimar, to learn more about the community and the ways in which they empower artisans and staff, before stopping by the café for a freshly-made cake and coffee.

When visiting the eco-village, Just You customers will be playing a part in contributing to the financial stability of Solheimar, and helping to support the employment of residents who might otherwise struggle to find economic opportunities. There are currently 110 community members directly benefitting from this project.
