Pink City Rickshaw Co

The Pink City Rickshaw Co., an initiative by ACCESS Development Services, offers women from low-income households in Jaipur sustainable livelihoods. These women proudly drive designer e-rickshaws, taking tourists to iconic landmarks like the Hawa Mahal, providing a unique and personal experience beyond traditional tours. Managed by the women themselves, this project empowers them economically with continued support from ACCESS. In addition to creating economic opportunities for disadvantaged women, the initiative promotes eco-friendly transportation to help reduce pollution levels in the city.

During your tour of Spirit of India you will have a brief orientation tour of Old Jaipur by The Pink City Rickshaw, a pioneering social enterprise run by and employing women.

Planeterra supports Pink City Rickshaw by providing market connections to help them establish a sustainable funding source through hosting travellers. Additionally, as part of the Planeterra Network, they benefit from learning modules, ongoing training, and mentorship.

MORE ABOUT PINK CITY RICKSHAW

The ladies are also taught basic English language skills to be able to provide basic information to their visitors. The aim is not for them to provide an in-depth tour full of historical facts, but instead to allow visitors to step behind the scenes of one of India's most beautiful cities, and soak up their surroundings away from the typical tourist crowds, in addition to supporting a very important and inspiring initiative that is leading the way in experiential travel in India.
