Itinerary

Day 1 UK - Sardinia

Today, make your own way to the airport or be collected by our Private Chauffeur (if you've pre-booked) for your flight to Sardinia. On arrival, transfer to your hotel, where you can get to know your travelling companions over a welcome drink before dinner. During your stay we include one evening transfer into the centre of the town, where you can shop for souvenirs, enjoy a stroll around the walled Old Town, or maybe take a seat at a pavement café and watch the sun set over its ancient sandstone ramparts.

Day 2 Alghero

Today join your Tour Manager and Local Guide on a tour of Alghero. The town is known for the deep-red coral found off the nearby Riviera del Corallo coast. It is one of the few places where coral fishing, a tradition here that dates back to the 11th century, is allowed, though strictly regulated. During our tour we'll also visit a coral factory to see how it is crafted into beautiful pieces of jewellery.
Afterwards there's time to enjoy lunch with your travelling companions if you wish. The rest of the day is free. Your hotel is surrounded by a large park and also boasts its own stretch of sandy beach. Leisure facilities include a swimming pool, tennis court, bowling green and mini golf range, so there's plenty to keep you occupied if you decide to spend the afternoon here. Meals included: B,L,D

Day 3 Nuraghe Palmavera

We include an excursion to the archaeological site of Nuraghe Palmavera today, which we will explore in the company of a Local Guide. The site dates back as far as 15th century BC and there's a host of ruins to explore, including a large meeting complex and two towers, one of which can be explored inside. We then visit the Wine Resort Azienda Agricola for a guided tour of the vineyard and olive groves, before sampling four wines accompanied by local produce including cold meats, cheeses, bread and olive oil. The afternoon is free to further explore at your leisure or perhaps head to the beach. Meals included: B,L,D

Day 4 Alghero - at Leisure

You can spend a relaxing day in Alghero, or maybe you'll choose to join our optional excursion to the fascinating island of Asinara. The whole island is a National Park and protected marine area, home to several endangered species including the popular albino donkey. Discover this untouched landscape by 4x4 Jeep with stops including an old prison and village. Meals included: B,L,D

Day 5 Alghero - at Leisure

Alghero is one of Sardinia's prettiest coastal resorts and today has been left free for you to make your own discoveries. There is an optional morning excursion - a cruise in the search of dolphins. There is also an optional afternoon tour to Neptune's Grotto, a large marine cave that was discovered by fishermen in the 18th century. Formed about two million years ago, there are rooms with astounding karst formations, a white sandy beach and a huge underground lake - a captivating gem of the Mediterranean. Meals included: B,L,D

Day 6 Alghero - at Leisure

​An optional excursion today will give you the chance to explore the little town of Tinnura, where many of the buildings are covered in huge murals depicting everyday life. Next, we visit the picturesque town of Bosa, whose attractive old quarter is home to medieval streets, stone staircases and houses painted in bright colours. From here, we'll enjoy a relaxing river cruise before free time for lunch. We'll return to the hotel for an afternoon at leisure​.

Day 8 Sardinia - UK

Tinnura, Bosa and River Cruise

Join our optional excursion as we stop in the little and charming village of Tinnura a hidden "gem" worth looking into. Tinnura is known as the "village of murals" and the main street has many colourful pictures covering the sides and fronts of houses. Painting murals in public places is a tradition on Sardinia since the 1960's and begun by renowned sculptor, Pinuccio Sciola.

We then continue to the charming town of Bosa, one of Sardinia's most beautiful towns full of pastel houses and moored fishing boats. Discover this unique and unspoilt town surrounded by beautiful, wild countryside, stunning beaches and coastline, Bosa has retained its ancient charm and has a relaxed Mediterranean buzz.

Explore the cobbled streets, piazzas, relax with a drink in the bars, cafes or restaurants, and amble around the shops. Also included is a relaxing cruise along the River Temo.

The Neptune's Caves of Alghero are the most famous on the whole island and on this excursion you will be able to see and explore them with your own eyes to enjoy their beauty and understand their fascination. The history of the caves date back to prehistoric and tracks within suggest it has been around 2 million years since they formed. The caves are also the largest on the island, extending for 4km but due to safety restrictions you will just see part of them. From the port of Alghero you will be escorted by boat to the caves where you will be able to enjoy the views of the cliffs overlooking the sea before entering 1km into the caves which are covered by vegetation and dense with stalactites and stalagmites. The caves over their long history have created many unique natural formations including the 'room of ruins', 'palace room', 'the great organ' and 'the music stand' which you will explore on your journey through the caves. This morning excursion to search for dolphins begins with a briefing to learn more about the biology and behaviour of the dolphins along with their conservation status. You will also be able to listen to real dolphin sounds recorded by scientists. You will then begin the cruise to try and sight some dolphins and once spotted get up close to observe their behaviour. Inbetween sightings you will be able to admire one of the most beautiful coasts of Sardinia within the boundaries of the Marine Protected Area Capo Caccia - Isola Piana along with opportunities to snorkel and imerse yourself in clear waters to discover further marine life. Don't worry if you do not have much experience in snorkeling as the guides will be able to accompany you. Start the day by boarding the boat to Asinara Island. The journey time is approx. 20 minutes where on arrival there will be jeeps waiting to begin the tour after a short presentation from the local guide. Throughout the day there will be ample opportunities to see both the historical and natural aspects of Asinara such as the prison facilities of the former agricultural penal colony, Lazzaretto (the former Maritime Health Station), the charming village of Cala d'olivia and not to mention the abundance marine and land flora and fauna. You will also have the chance to visit the sea turtle recovery center (extra charge applies) and the Cosmetic workshop 'Farm Asinara'.
