Moroccan Red Lentil soup

Bursting with flavour, this rich and comforting spice-laden soup is oh-so-easy to prepare. It’s a delicious and satisfying choice for lunch.

  • 30g red lentils
  • 120ml vegetable stock
  • 10g onion
  • 20g carrot
  • 5g celery
  • 5g garlic
  • 5g ginger
  • 20g tomato
  • 3g turmeric powder
  • 2g cumin powder
  • 10ml olive oil
  • 1 lime
  • 3g salt
  • 1g paprika powder
  • 5g organic yogurt


  1. Slice the onion, carrot, celery, ginger and tomato into small pieces
  2. Put the sliced onions, carrots, celery, ginger, lime, olive oil and tomato into the pot and cook for a couple of minutes until the vegetables are soft.

  3. Add the garlic, red lentils, cumin powder and turmeric powder, fry for a minute or two then add the stock. Bring to the boil and simmer gently until everything is cooked.

  4. Ladle into bowls and decorate with organic yogurt and paprika powder

  5. If you would prefer a smoother soup, the mixture can be blitzed in a food processor at the end
