Exquisite dishes are lovingly prepared by the ship's talented team of chefs, incorporating fresh, local produce with a nod to traditional Greek cuisine.

A self-service buffet is the perfect opportunity to sample a wide variety of food, while gourmet menus will take your foodie experience to new heights with an enticing selection of distinguished recipes.

The Discovery offers three restaurants which deliver a symphony of tantalising flavours, from casual dining to fine dining affairs:

  • The Taverna: All-day buffet with Greek delicacies, perfect for a quick snack or heartier spread.
  • Grill Seekers: Seafood and perfectly cooked meats prepared by the Grill Masters. Sample menu.

There are six ports of call included on your cruise itinerary, allowing you to explore even more of the Greek Islands from Mykonos - the island of the winds, to  sensational Santorini, here are some of the highlights:

 

  1. Mykonos

    Affectionately known as the 'Islands of the Winds', Mykonos is home to the 16th-century windmills that have become iconic picture postcard landmarks. Spend the day exploring this beautiful island and its vibrant atmosphere.

  2. Kusadasi

    The charming port of Kusadasi awaits. There is an optional guided tour available to the ancient city of Ephesus which can be booked through Celestyal. Alternatively, why not take some time to enjoy the seafront or the city's famous bazaar.

  3. Patmos

    Your next port of call is Patmos - famed for being the location where the Book of Revelations was written, by the legendary St John. There is the opportunity to take a shore excursion to visit the Cave of the Apocalypse, where St John lived.

  4. Rhodes

    The stunning landscape of Greece's largest Dodecanese Island, Rhodes, seamlessly combines dramatic ancient and historic sites, with charming modern hillside villages. Here you will explore the cobbled alleyways and narrow arteries in the Old Town on an included walking tour, where opulent architecture awaits.

  5. Heraklion

    As we pull into Heraklion, look out for the imposing 16th-century walls of Koules Fortress. Revel in the calm of the waterfront or enjoy a whirlwind adventure around the Cretan countryside. Delve into Crete's past with a spellbinding tour of the Palace of Knossos, and listen to tales of intrigue and more in the Knossos museum.

  6. Santorini

    You will arrive in the spectacular caldera of an ancient volcano - which now forms the picture-postcard views of the island of Santorini and its iconic whitewashed houses and blue-domed churches that you will see on an included excursion to Oia - famed for its blue-domed churches, whitewashed houses and spectacular sunsets.

Preparing for boarding

Before boarding, your Holiday Director will request your passport, visa (if applicable) and health questionnaire which your Holiday Director will ask you to complete up to 24 hours before departure.

Your luggage will be scanned and transferred to your cabin.

You will be issued with a boarding pass which you must keep with you at all times as this acts as your personal identification card, and will be required each time you disembark and embark the ship.

You will be asked to register a credit or debit card against your cabin in order to allow purchases of any extras during your stay. You will need your boarding pass with you should you wish to make a purchase on board.

Once you have completed the document check process as well as luggage drop off and check-in, you will proceed to security so that your hand luggage can be scanned - similar to security at the airport. 

You will have to pass through metal scanners, if you have a medical condition which prevents you from walking through the scanners, please advise port security and provide supporting medical certificates.

Packing for your cruise

The following items are strictly forbidden onboard the ship:

  • Firearms and ammunition, including replicas
  • Sharp objects (personal items such as safety razors and scissors under 4 inches in length are allowed)
  • Items that generate heat or an open flame including candles, incense, clothes irons, travel steamers. Matches and normal lighters are allowed but torch/novelty lighters that look like guns are not permitted.
  • Electrical extension cords
  • Perishable food 
  • Alcoholic beverages (any alcohol purchased on board or in a port of call will be stored by the shop and these will be returned on the last day to enjoy at home)
Clothing

During 4-night cruises, the ship hosts a Gala Night and Captain's Cocktail which requires formal dress: a cocktail dress/smart wear for ladies and jacket and tie for gentlemen.

During summer months it is advisable to wear light cotton clothing for any shore excursions, along with comfortable footwear. If you are visiting religious sites please consider trousers/long skirts and covering your shoulders as a mark of respect. 

During autumn and winter, warmer clothing is advisable, and a wind breaker/warm coat is recommended.

Bathing suits or shorts are not permitted in the restaurants.

For your safety and comfort on the ship, flat deck/sport shoes are recommended, or low-heeled footwear. Please do not walk barefoot on open decks.

Gratuities and Purchases

To make your journey seamless, gratuities for your Onboard Hosts and culinary team members have already been included in your package price.

When boarding you will be asked to register your credit or debit card for any additional purchases onboard. Please note that cash is not accepted in any of the bars restaurants or shops. All purchases are charged to your account and settled at the end of your cruise. The currency used onboard is euros.

Wi-Fi and Phone Calls

As part of this cruise, you will receive 1 hour of free Wi-Fi access per day. Users joining the network may experience delays or interruptions due to being at sea.

If your mobile service is set to roaming, you will be charged directly by your network provider for any phone calls, messages or mobile data.

Smoking

Smoking tobacco, cigars and e-cigarettes is only permitted in designated open deck areas.

Disembarkation

Once port officials have given clearance and all luggage has been offloaded, disembarkation will take place in small groups to minimise congestion. As a result it can take up to 2 hours from the point of docking until your final disembarkation.
