Itinerary

Fly to Pisa today. You’ll meet your travelling companions over a drink and dinner this evening.
Pisa is home to one of Italy’s most recognisable sights, the famous Leaning Tower. Residing in the Field of Miracles, this 180ft campanile took 176 years to build and began to lean shortly after construction. Thankfully the structure has recently been secured yet it still retains its famous lean. We include a visit to the Field of Miracles this morning.

Discover more of Pisa this afternoon in the company of your fellow travellers - your Tour Manager will always be on hand to suggest interesting places to visit.
San Gimignano is one of the prettiest hilltop towns in Tuscany, with beautiful palaces and churches, ornate frescoes and a fine baptistery within its ancient walls. It’s also known as the ‘town of beautiful towers’ because of the impressive towers built here as status symbols by feuding families in medieval times.

Siena is one of the most perfectly preserved medieval cities in Europe. Its enchanting narrow streets lined with palaces and mansions lead to the spectacular Piazza del Campo, which is the setting each year for the colourful and intense Palio horse race. We include an excursion to both towns today.
Marina di Cecina, your base, is a lovely town. Perhaps spend time on the beach, which is just a short stroll from your hotel. Or maybe head into the delightful town centre where there are plenty of laid-back cafés in which to relax and watch the world go by.
Elba is a beautiful island just off the coast of Tuscany. Vantage points offer splendid views over the Bay of Biodola, while on the shoreline the harbour of Marciana and Marina di Campo are lovely spots to while away the time. The island is dotted with picturesque fishing villages and scenic walking routes where a fantastic variety of wildflowers grow in abundance. Explore the island on an optional excursion today. Alternatively, take the time to relax in your resort.
Florence is known as Italy’s ‘Art City’. It is home to works by great masters including Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci.

Built beside the River Arno, explore the city’s compact historic centre on your included excursion. Stroll across the Ponte Vecchio, climb the steps of the magnificent Duomo and admire glorious architecture among the Renaissance streets and piazzas.

Il Porcellino, the statue of a boar located in Mercato Nuovo, is surrounded by superstition – if you throw a coin into the grating at its feet and rub its shiny nose, legend has it that you will return to the city.
Lucca is a traditional historic town surrounded by impressive walls. Explore the town on an optional excursion today. Take a walk along the ancient ramparts and admire the beautiful botanical gardens, the Basilica of San Frediano and fascinating architecture including a tree-topped tower.

Alternatively, take time to explore your resort - Marina di Cecina - enjoy the bustling town, relax on the beach or enjoy the local café culture.

Join the group for a farewell get-together and enjoy some live music
this evening.
Today we’ll return to the UK.

Please note: To maximise your enjoyment of this holiday a certain amount of walking is essential.

Excursions

Experience even more of your destination by adding one or more optional excursions to your holiday before you set off. Right now is the perfect opportunity to do that – with everything booked and paid for you’ll have even more to get excited about and all you’ll need to think about while you’re away is having a great time.

By the way - look out for ‘Optional Excursion Packages’. For some holidays we’ve grouped a selection of excursions into a package which means you can make a saving when you book in advance.

Prices shown may vary according to departure date and are subject to change.  The full range of excursions will be detailed in your holiday information pack, sent approximately 15 weeks prior to departure.

Island of Elba

Island of Elba

from £74

Your day begins as you transfer to the Roman port of Piombino for a short ferry crossing to Portferraio on Elba. From here you’ll journey towards the south of the island, stopping off at Marciana Marina where you can enjoy breathtaking views. You’ll continue to the main resort of the island, Marina di Campo, where there’s time to enjoy a spot of lunch or relax on the beach. In the afternoon your tour continues to the village of Porto Azzurro which boasts a picturesque harbour from where you can see the island of Montecristo or Portofeerraio depending on time.

Full day – Minimal walking – Beautiful scenery

Town tour of Lucca

Town tour of Lucca

from £46

This always-popular excursion takes you on a walking tour, or a cycling tour if you prefer, of this delightful walled town. You’ll discover perfectly preserved medieval and Renaissance architecture, charming piazzas and even a tree-topped tower as you stroll through its historic centre. Further must-see highlights include the Piazza Anfiteatro, built on the site of an original Roman amphitheatre, and the Duomo di San Martino, a beautiful marble cathedral which houses the Volto Santo – a large crucifix of the Holy Face carved into cedar wood. Lucca is also the birthplace of composer Puccini, and his former home is now a museum.
