Day 1 UK - Zurich
Today we'll fly to Zurich and transfer to the pretty, traffic-free village of Wengen. After settling in, we'll head out for a walk around the village and afterwards you'll have time at leisure. This evening, we'll get to know one another better over a welcome drink and dinner at the hotel.Meals included: D
Day 2 Schynige Platte
Walk 12km/7.45mi – 3.5hrs
After breakfast, we'll take a short train ride to Lauterbrunnen. From here, the first of our guided walks takes us along the White Lütschine and the Lütschine Rivers to the village of Wilderswil. We'll board a nostalgic cogwheel train and wind our way up the mountain to Schynige Platte, where we'll be greeted by alphorn players. Enjoy your packed lunch in the company of your travelling companions and perhaps take a stroll around the Botanical Alpine Garden, which is home to more than 600 species of plants.
After returning to Wilderswil, we'll travel to Interlaken and then back to Wengen by train. During your stay, the hotel will provide a Swiss night, including a dinner of a variety of Swiss dishes and traditional live music and folklore.
Day 3 Trümmelbach Falls, Allmendhubel & Muerren
Walk 10.1km/6.3mi – 3 hrs
We'll take the train to Lauterbrunnen again this morning and walk along the valley to the Trümmelbach Falls. We'll have time to discover this magnificent site, a series of 10 glacier-fed waterfalls hidden away inside a mountain, before continuing on foot to Stechelberg. From here, we'll take a cable car to Gimmelwald and then continue our walk to Muerren, admiring impressive views of the north face of the Eiger along the way. We'll travel to the summit of Allmendhubel by a funicular railway, and if you've already eaten your packed lunch, a lovely restaurant here serves local specialities, drinks and delicious cakes.
We will follow the trail back down to Muerren and descend to Lauterbrunnen by train and cable car, returning to Wengen by train. Dinner is at the hotel this evening.
Day 4 Wengen - at Leisure
We have left today free for you to explore. Why not head out with your travelling companions and make use of your Bernese Oberland Pass so you can explore the region at your leisure. We'll gather as a group again this evening to enjoy dinner at the hotel.
Day 5 Männlichen & Kleine Scheidegg
Walk 12 km/7.5miles – 4.5 hours
After breakfast, we'll take a cable car to Männlichen, the start-point for today's walk, then walk along the eastern flank of Tschuggen Alp to Honegg. After an easy hike, we'll reach Kleine Scheidegg where you can relax and enjoy your packed lunch. After this, we pass through Alpine pastures on our walk down to Alpiglen, following the trail to Grindelwald. From here, we will ascend to the summit of First Mountain by cable car and enjoy panoramic views, before returning to Wengen by train.
We'll enjoy our final evening over dinner at the hotel.
Day 6 Wengen - Bern
Today we'll travel by road to the capital of Switzerland, Bern. Here you'll have free time to explore at leisure, so perhaps take a stroll through the pretty, UNESCO-listed Old Town and browse the shops, boutiques and galleries found in its covered arcades. You could also climb the steps of the 100-metre-high cathedral tower, for stunning views of the Old Town and the River Aare.
Day 7 Zurich - UK
We'll transfer to the airport for your flight back to the UK.
Please note: There will be plenty of rest stops and time to enjoy the local scenery. Most walks take place on paths and tracks. Some will be slightly more strenuous and may involve moderate slopes, tracks, hills, stiles and foot bridges which may be rough underfoot at times. Sturdy walking shoes are essential.
