With its castle skyline and cobbled streets, Krakow is Christmas card come to life and looks particularly stunning at night. You'll discover Krakow's Christmas market in the heart of the old town, enjoying a visit to Krakow's new Wodka Museum on the way. You'll experience a traditional Jewish dinner with live music and an included guided visit to the extraordinary Wielizca Salt Mines.

Itinerary

Day 1 UK - Krakow

Make your own way to the airport for your flight to Krakow where you will meet your Holiday Director and transfer to your hotel. Your hotel is located in the heart of the Kazimierz district, historically the Jewish Quarter of the city which has an atmosphere all of it's own with excellent museums, bohemian cafes and basement bars to explore. Later we'll gather together for a festive welcome drink followed by a welcome dinner in a traditional Jewish restaurant accompanied by live music.

Next day

Day 2 Krakow

This morning, join your Holiday Director for a guided walking tour of Krakow. The Krakow Christmas market takes place every year in the city’s historic central square, Rynek Glowny, the largest medieval square in Europe. The square is filled with wooden stalls selling Christmas decorations, toys, gifts and delicious food items. Traditional, hand-painted Christmas glass baubles are a Polish speciality and there are many other handicrafts on display. Traditional festive treats include spiced nuts and local gingerbread. We’ll stop at Krakow's newly opened Wodka Museum where we'll taste one of the most famous vodkas to warm us up. The rest of the day is at leisure for you to enjoy beautiful Krakow.

Next day

Day 3 Krakow

Today join your Holiday Director for a morning, guided excursion to the Wielicka Salt Mines. This breath-taking site dates back 700 years when rock salt was discovered here, and since then over 300 miles of tunnels have been dug. However more than tunnels have been excavated, the mine contain vast ornate chambers, statues carved from rock salt, and a stunning central chapel lit by chandeliers. On our return to Krakow we'll stop in the old town to enjoy a welcome mulled wine and tasting of Oscypek, a local speciality before free time to enjoy more of this beautiful city at your own pace.

The Golden Tulip Krakow Kazimierz is located in the old Jewish quarter of the city close to the river and about a 20 minute walk from the old town square. Kazimierz has a unique atmosphere and many excellent museums, galleries and interesting bars and restaurants. Rooms are air-conditioned, come with a flat-screen TV and free WiFi.
