Day 2 Vienna
Vienna is a diverse city with a vibrant culture, a vast imperial history and intriguing architecture. This morning why not join an optional tour visiting Schönbrunn Palace, an architectural masterpiece which was built in the late 17th century to rival Versailles.
This afternoon, you have the opportunity to join an optional guided tour of Vienna and its enchanting Christmas markets. We'll also see the famous Ringstrasse – a smart boulevard lined with fine buildings, including the State Opera, the Hofburg Palace, the Natural History Museum and the Burgtheatre, which is one of the most important German language theatres in the world.
Day 3 Christmas Eve, Budapest
Relax on board the ship enjoying its facilities as we spend the day cruising to Budapest.
This evening, gather with your travelling companions for dinner and a special Christmas Eve celebration on board. Later you can head ashore to attend midnight mass in Budapest if you wish.
Day 4 Christmas Day, Budapest
Known as the 'Pearl of the Danube', Budapest is Hungary's bustling capital, and you can choose to spend Christmas morning on an optional tour here. The river splits the city into two parts, with the modern buildings and busy streets of Pest on one side and the historic quarters of Buda on the other, and this is where our guided tour begins. We'll take in the famous Chain Bridge, the enchanting Castle District, the Fisherman's Bastion and Matthias Church – the oldest in the city. We'll then head to Pest to take in its highlights, which include Heroes' Square, the Szechenyi thermal baths and Vajdahunyad Castle.
Back on board the ship this evening, we'll get together to enjoy a Hungarian-themed dinner as we cruise towards Bratislava.
Day 5 Boxing Day, Bratislava
This morning we arrive in Bratislava. Once the capital of Hungary, it now serves as Slovakia's diverse capital city. Why not join an optional panoramic tour and discover its charming Christmas markets and the medieval Bratislava Castle. Take in spectacular views over the Danube from its ancient ramparts before entering the Old Town through Michael's Gate, which dates back to the Middle Ages. We'll admire the elegant buildings that line the central square, including the old town hall and a host of Art Nouveau treasures, and take in the Primate's Palace. Enjoy a free afternoon to make your own discoveries before heading back to the ship.
There's a treat in store this evening in the shape of a gala dinner on board.
Day 6 Vienna - UK
We'll arrive early in Vienna. After breakfast, we'll disembark the ship and transfer to the airport for our flight back to the UK.
