More than ever, people want to travel in 2021. A whopping 75% of our Just You customers who partook in our recent survey said they wanted to take the same amount of holiday, if not even more next year than in previous years. From increased interest in exploring great wide open spaces & places of natural beauty, to actively looking for destinations in order to support local communities hardest hit by the closed borders, here are a few of our predicted trends for 2021.
1. Bucket List Trips
Always fancied visiting New Zealand but never quite got round to it? Well 2021 is the year to tick some bucket list destinations off your list! Many of our customers will be looking to make up for lost time next year and booking their trip of a lifetime.
2. Changing Lives Through Travel
Our Just You Cares initiatives programmes support local projects and social enterprises by helping them earn an income from tourism. We simply donate a portion of the funds from our tours, so it’s great to know that when you travel with us you are helping to change lives and turn travel into real impact.
3. UK Breaks
With so much of 2021 spent at home, many have fallen back in love with their homeland and want to continue to explore corners of the UK in 2021. We predict our UK breaks will be more popular than ever before.
4. Wide Open Spaces
Many of us have had the time to return to nature over the last 12 months and this slower pace and taking the opportunity to get off the beaten track is bound to feature in many travel plans for 2021. We see craving the space, nature and the great outdoors epitomized by destinations such as Canada and the National Parks of the US as a big trend in 2021.
5. Experience more
In 2020, we had our wings clipped and this year, no wanting to miss out, many travellers will be looking to venture out and experience more. Whether that is tasting the delicious flavours of local cuisine, getting close to wildlife or discovering ancient sites. Travellers will be taking their time to make sure they get the most out of every destination.
6. Short Haul Breaks
Much of Europe can be reached within a few hours making trips to the mainland very attractive. Croatia, Spain and Italy are just a short flight away and offer solo travellers a diverse mix of holiday experiences from coastal cruises to walking breaks and more traditional touring holidays.
7. Getting Active
The last 12 months have given us the opportunity to rediscover the great outdoors close to home, in 2021 and beyond, some travellers will be looking to embrace their newfound love of walking into their holidays, exploring new destinations on foot. Tuscany, Mallorca and Crete welcome visitors and offer fantastic views for you to enjoy.
8. Single Centre Holidays
While some travellers will be eager to see as much of the world as possible, many will make the most of staying in a single hotel and venturing out to explore locally while enjoying their holiday at a more leisurely pace. From Pompeii and Andalucía to Austria and Slovenia, whether exploring local towns or wide-open spaces, at the end of each day you’ll head back to relax in your hotel and chat with your fellow solo travellers about the fantastic memories you created.
