Your itinerary

You'll fly to Munich today, and on arrival we'll transfer you to Passau, where your ship is waiting for you. Settle into your cabin and then get to know your travelling companions over a welcome cocktail followed by dinner in the ship's restaurant. An evening of entertainment then follows in the lounge.

We reach Melk this morning, located in the beautiful UNESCO-listed Wachau Valley. Once here you can choose to join an optional excursion to its famous Benedictine abbey, which is one of Austria's cultural highlights. Inside there's a museum, a library boasting 16,000 volumes and the Marble Hall, which has an exquisitely painted ceiling.
We then rejoin the ship as it sets sail for Vienna this afternoon. This evening you have the chance to step ashore to enjoy a concert of Viennese music.

After breakfast this morning, you can join an optional guided tour of Vienna, one of the most beautiful cities in central Europe. Our journey begins as we head to the famous Ringstrasse – a smart boulevard lined with fine buildings including the State Opera, the Hofburg Palace and the Burgtheatre.
After lunch back on board, you can choose to join another optional excursion, this time to the magnificent Schönbrunn Palace. Built in the late 17th century to rival Versailles, it was the summer residence of the Habsburg family, and more notably Empress Elisabeth, known as Sissi. The palace boasts more than 1,441 rooms and your guided tour will give you a fascinating insight into the lives of those who called it home. You'll have free time to explore the palace gardens before we head back to the ship for a relaxed evening.

This morning step ashore to explore Hungary's capital Budapest, which straddles the River Danube. If you join an optional tour you'll discover both parts of the city - Buda and Pest - which were joined when the Chain Bridge was built over the Danube in 1849.
In Buda we'll head to the Castle quarter for wonderfully panoramic views. You'll also see Matthias Church, the oldest in the city, which was founded in 1015 by Saint Stephen. In Pest, highlights include its fine parliament building and Heroes Square.
After dinner this evening, you can head back into Budapest to attend an optional folklore show if you wish.

Today you have the chance to join an optional excursion to Puszta, a vast plain nestled in the rural heart of Hungary. Here you'll watch a dazzling equestrian show, with Magyar cowboys demonstrating their incredible horsemanship. You'll also be treated to local brandy, wine and traditional delicacies before we head back to the ship.
Back on board, enjoy the ship's facilities as we sail to Esztergom, where you'll have free time ashore before we sail on to Bratislava.

The ship arrives in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, this morning. A guided tour will introduce you to all its highlights as you travel by mini-train to the city centre. Here you'll see ancient and modern landmarks such as St Martin's Cathedral, the city walls and the Presidential Palace. We'll then set off on a walking tour of the city's main streets, which boast many beautiful sculptures and fountains.
Back on board this evening there's the chance to get dressed up for the captain's farewell dinner. Overnight our ship sails to Durnstein.

We arrive back in Austria today, and if you would like to discover the medieval town of Durnstein, why not join our morning walking tour, which also includes a tasting of wines from the Wachau region.
Back on board, gather with your fellow travellers for a farewell cocktail before dinner is served.

We'll enjoy breakfast on board before disembarking the ship in Passau. We'll then transfer to the airport in Munich for our flight back to the UK.

Vienna Classical Concert

As the German name still suggests, the ‘Kursalon Palace’ was originally intended as a spa resort, however, over time this magnificent building has quickly grown into a vibrant hotspot in the heart of Vienna, promoting the very essence of what Vienna is famous for: classical music.
In the very place where Johann Strauss himself used to direct his orchestra from the position of first violin, Vienna’s classical music scene can once again be experienced in modern times.
Enjoy an evening full of Viennese charm with the swinging sound of waltzes, polkas, arias and duets, as well as operetta and piano concerto melodies. Accompanied by excellent opera vocalists and enchanting ballet soloists, this classical concert is an experience you don’t want to miss!

Hungarians and their horses – it’s a very special relationship. Conquering the Carpathian Basin over a thousand years ago on horseback, Hungarians still hold onto their riding talents and traditions. The Great Plain has particularly strong traditions when it comes to breath-taking horse stunts, and today you will be able to witness these.
Our journey takes us south of Budapest to Lajosmizse, which is the gate to the lowlands. Arriving at the Puszta horse ranch you will be welcomed with local brandy and traditional delicacies. The Puszta horse ranch will show you just what Hungarian Magyar cowboys have up their sleeves as they perform an exciting and daring equestrian show.
