Your itinerary

Today you'll fly to Zurich and transfer by coach and mountain railway to the pretty, car-free village of Wengen. Set amidst spectacular scenery, Wengen nestles on a sheltered terrace at the foot of the Jungfrau. The village offers impressive views of the surrounding mountains and easy access to the Grindelwald & Wengen ski area.
On arrival your Ski Tour Manager will help you collect your ski equipment, and we'll take in views of the Lauterbrunnen Valley when we enjoy a cheese fondue on the terrace. You will also be able to collect your included lift pass so you can join the ski school first thing in the morning.
This evening we'll get to know each other over a welcome drink before sitting down for dinner in the hotel restaurant.

After breakfast your Ski Tour Manager will accompany you to the ski school for your first session. If you are coming back to skiing after a few years, the instructors will assess your level of skiing and then help you get your confidence back.
We'll have a traditional light lunch together and take the weight off our feet, as we make plans for the afternoon. If you have your confidence back and want to continue skiing, your Ski Tour Manager will organise things for you.
At the end of our first full day of skiing, we'll be ready for a well-deserved drink either in an après ski bar or back at the hotel. Then, after time to freshen up, we'll get together for dinner and share our ski stories of the day.

Your sessions at ski school will continue for the next two days, as you begin to regain your confidence.

If you're feeling ready to explore and would prefer not to attend ski school, your Ski Tour Manager will take small groups up onto the slopes. Alternatively, you're welcome to head off independently if you wish.
Your Ski Tour Manager will always organise a meeting point for lunch, and a time to get together in the afternoon for an après-ski drink and the chance to discuss plans for the next day.

Your Ski Tour Manager will be on hand to help you get the most out of your remaining time on the slopes.
If you would like to continue with ski school, we will organise this for you. Alternatively, if you are ready to hit the slopes, you can do so independently or with our Ski Tour Manager - it's totally up to you. Your Ski Tour Manager can ski with up to 10 people and will help you plan your day. During your days on the slopes you could take the mountain railway to the Kleine Scheidegg, where the Wengen and Grindelwald ski areas meet.
If you feel like having a day off skiing, there's plenty of other activities to enjoy in Wengen. Why not try your hand at curling, sledging, ice skating or even snowshoe trekking. You could also take advantage of facilities at your hotel, there's a fabulous spa area and indoor swimming pool, perfect for stretching and soothing those muscles!
At the end of every day, we'll meet in the bar before dinner. One night, we'll enjoy the hotel's Swiss buffet evening, where a tempting array of local specialities are served, including raclette, rosti, and a selection of cheeses and roasted meats. Then, if you have room, there'll be a magnificent choice of desserts to round off this gastronomical experience!
We also have a very special adventure planned for another evening. We'll take a leisurely walk into a forest where, in a small mountain hut, we'll be served a delicious raclette dinner by candlelight. A unique experience which concludes with a walk back through the forest to the hotel.

It's your last chance to swap contact details with new-found friends, before we depart for Zurich airport after breakfast and our ski adventure comes to an end.

The Just You Ski Experience

We sent some members of our team out to join travellers on a Just You ski holiday. Here’s what they had to say about the experience.

The buzz around the table was infectious

Apart from the skiing, the highlight of the week was definitely the evening of day 2. We sat down together for dinner in the hotel’s restaurant and the other guests staying in the hotel would never have known that we had only just met. The noise and buzz around the table was infectious as everyone chatted about the day, reliving the experiences as if they were old friends. I could feel the hairs standing up on the back of my neck – this is exactly the atmosphere we want to create on our ski holidays for solo travellers, and this was only the start.

Skiing brings people together

There is no doubt about it, skiing brings people together and creates an immediate bond – it’s a great holiday choice for solo travellers. I will never forget the Ski Tour Manager, telling me that on our first day it was like watching a bag of kittens being let loose on the piste! We all scattered everywhere and skied how and where we wanted. Then, after we’d had a giggle about our different ski styles, we slowly started to get our legs back and came together like a well-oiled machine. It wasn’t long before we were creating a ski snake down the hillside!

Everyone met up for lunch

One of the great things about a Just You ski holiday, is that we arrange for everyone to meet up for lunch on the first ski day. So, with our aching legs and a few bruised bottoms, we all sat down to a hearty meal of local specialities. It was great to chat with the others about how I thought I could improve, and to find that some of the things which had surprised me this morning also rang true for the others. In no time at all we were all excitedly planning our afternoon of skiing.

A gluewein to soothe our tired muscles

On most days our party split up into groups of similar skiing ability. We’d all head off our own way, but it was fab to know that by 4.15pm, we’d all be back together in our local ski bar catching up on the day’s events and enjoying a gluewein to soothe our tired muscles. The bar staff knew we were coming, and by the end of the week they felt like part of our gang!

There were a few fast skiers in our group who would usually go off and explore at their own pace, but sometimes they would stay with the rest of us and lead the way. One day, one of the guys offered to be our ski guide. We were all happy to follow his instructions, but we did throw in a few tests for him to deal with along the way – all in good fun, of course! We did enjoy sending the fast group off with the Local Ski Guide, who took them to some challenging pistes!

Laid-back après ski

It has to be said, most evenings we didn’t even bother going out of the hotel. We found it easier, and just as much fun, to sit in the snug bar and chat. There was gentle music playing in the background and a cosy open fire in the lounge.

Our brilliant Ski Tour Manager

Thank heavens for our brilliant Ski Tour Manager! She was full of energy, had a real passion for skiing, and was the life and soul of the party with her totally infectious laugh! She organised, chatted and kept control of the group with her occasional school ma’am voice!

Skiing with the Local Ski Guide

Having a Local Ski Guide was great and meant we could all ski together as a group. It was really good to have someone with us who was born and bred in the mountains and knew every nook and cranny. Of course, we were all very envious of their ski style, knowledge and good looks. Let’s face it, has anyone met a ski guide, male or female, who isn’t pleasing to the eye?!

The very best solo ski experience

After our week together on the slopes, our group had become an almost inseparable team. Close friendships had been forged – sometimes as a result of helping each other through a challenge and sometimes from sharing the experience of gliding through incredible scenery in a hidden valley.

Just You Ski holidays are designed for anyone with a passion for the mountains, a passion for skiing and a passion for meeting new friends. I know I’m probably biased, but I think they offer the very best solo ski experience, so why not come and join us.
