Your itinerary

Today you'll fly to Austria with your fellow Just You travellers. Your Just You Ski Tour Manager will meet you at the airport on arrival and transfer you to your hotel in Zell am Ziller.
Like all our hotels, your accommodation has been handpicked for its excellent location, right in the village square, as well as its facilities, comfort and style. You'll also have the reassurance of a room of your own, so you can retreat to your little haven whenever you feel the need.
First, your Ski Tour Manager will help you to collect your ski equipment and pass, so you are ready for ski school first thing in the morning. Then you can take time to unpack and settle in.
Located in the Zillertal Valley at an altitude of 580m above sea level, Zell am Ziller has more than 143km of slopes and 52 lifts, making it the perfect destination for skiers of all levels. As well as a variety of on-piste possibilities, this quaint village has an excellent freizeitpark zell, or leisure park, which offers activities such as ice-skating, curling, indoor tennis and bowling.
This evening, you can get to know to your fellow skiers and your Ski Manager over a welcome drink in the hotel's bar. You can ask any quesions you have, then enjoy a glass of local Zillertal beer with your new friends as you look forward to what tomorrow may bring. Following this, dinner will be served in the hotel's restaurant, whose chefs focus on traditional Tyrolean cuisine.

Start the day with a hearty breakfast made exclusively using ingredients from the local farm. Your Ski Tour Manager will then accompany you to ski school for the first of your sessions. First you'll be assigned to a group according to your level of skiing – this is so we can be certain that you'll get the most out of your time here.
After two hours of skiing, we'll meet up and head to a local restaurant where you can enjoy a light lunch and the opportunity to chat about your morning with your new friends.
Your afternoon is then free for you to do whatever you wish. For those who want to ski more, your Ski Tour Manager will organise this for you - there are plenty of nice easy runs where you can  build your confidence. If you would rather experience a more relaxing afternoon, feel free to head back to the hotel and enjoy a herbal steam bath, massage or sauna in the onsite spa.
After your first day of skiing you'll be ready for a well-earned drink either in the après ski bar or the hotel bar. Dinner will be served once again in the restaurant, where recipes passed down through generations will be on the menu.

Over the next two days you can continue with ski school in the morning, and after lunch you can enjoy all this lovely region has to offer. Whether you want to brush up on your technique from your ski school sessions or are looking to ski with your group of new-found friends, the choice is all yours. If you prefer to venture off and explore the stunning mountain scenery yourself, you are very welcome.
Your Ski Tour Manager will arrange various meeting points throughought the day, so whatever you get up to you can meet with the rest of the group for lunch or an après ski drink.
Dinner tonight will be served at the hotel in one of the historic 'Bräu Parlours'.

The next two days are yours to enjoy however you wish. If you want to ski in a group, your Ski Tour Manager will arrange this for you. To make certain that everyone has the chance to ski accompanied, up to 10 people can venture out on the slopes with the Ski Tour Manager at one time.
With 179 lifts available, you can quickly and comfortably travel from an altitude of 580m to 3,350m, and with 515km of beautiful pristine slopes, you'll have more than enough runs to choose from.
If you'd prefer a day off skiing, there are many more activities for you to enjoy off the slopes. From sledging to ice-skating, curling to snowshoe trekking, this winter paradise has so much to offer.
In the evening we'll meet up for drinks at the hotel bar before enjoying dinner in the restaurant.

Your adventure comes to an end as you share breakfast with your new-found ski friends in the hotel restaurant. We'll then transfer you to the airport for your flight back to the UK.

The Just You Ski Experience

We sent some members of our team out to join travellers on a Just You ski holiday. Here’s what they had to say about the experience.

The buzz around the table was infectious

Apart from the skiing, the highlight of the week was definitely the evening of day 2. We sat down together for dinner in the hotel’s restaurant and the other guests staying in the hotel would never have known that we had only just met. The noise and buzz around the table was infectious as everyone chatted about the day, reliving the experiences as if they were old friends. I could feel the hairs standing up on the back of my neck – this is exactly the atmosphere we want to create on our ski holidays for solo travellers, and this was only the start.

Skiing brings people together

There is no doubt about it, skiing brings people together and creates an immediate bond – it’s a great holiday choice for solo travellers. I will never forget the Ski Tour Manager, telling me that on our first day it was like watching a bag of kittens being let loose on the piste! We all scattered everywhere and skied how and where we wanted. Then, after we’d had a giggle about our different ski styles, we slowly started to get our legs back and came together like a well-oiled machine. It wasn’t long before we were creating a ski snake down the hillside!

Everyone met up for lunch

One of the great things about a Just You ski holiday, is that we arrange for everyone to meet up for lunch on the first ski day. So, with our aching legs and a few bruised bottoms, we all sat down to a hearty meal of local specialities. It was great to chat with the others about how I thought I could improve, and to find that some of the things which had surprised me this morning also rang true for the others. In no time at all we were all excitedly planning our afternoon of skiing.

A gluewein to soothe our tired muscles

On most days our party split up into groups of similar skiing ability. We’d all head off our own way, but it was fab to know that by 4.15pm, we’d all be back together in our local ski bar catching up on the day’s events and enjoying a gluewein to soothe our tired muscles. The bar staff knew we were coming, and by the end of the week they felt like part of our gang!

There were a few fast skiers in our group who would usually go off and explore at their own pace, but sometimes they would stay with the rest of us and lead the way. One day, one of the guys offered to be our ski guide. We were all happy to follow his instructions, but we did throw in a few tests for him to deal with along the way – all in good fun, of course! We did enjoy sending the fast group off with the Local Ski Guide, who took them to some challenging pistes!

Laid-back après ski

It has to be said, most evenings we didn’t even bother going out of the hotel. We found it easier, and just as much fun, to sit in the snug bar and chat. There was gentle music playing in the background and a cosy open fire in the lounge.

Our brilliant Ski Tour Manager

Thank heavens for our brilliant Ski Tour Manager! She was full of energy, had a real passion for skiing, and was the life and soul of the party with her totally infectious laugh! She organised, chatted and kept control of the group with her occasional school ma’am voice!

Skiing with the Local Ski Guide

Having a Local Ski Guide was great and meant we could all ski together as a group. It was really good to have someone with us who was born and bred in the mountains and knew every nook and cranny. Of course, we were all very envious of their ski style, knowledge and good looks. Let’s face it, has anyone met a ski guide, male or female, who isn’t pleasing to the eye?!

The very best solo ski experience

After our week together on the slopes, our group had become an almost inseparable team. Close friendships had been forged – sometimes as a result of helping each other through a challenge and sometimes from sharing the experience of gliding through incredible scenery in a hidden valley.

Just You Ski holidays are designed for anyone with a passion for the mountains, a passion for skiing and a passion for meeting new friends. I know I’m probably biased, but I think they offer the very best solo ski experience, so why not come and join us.
