Celebrate 100 Years of the National Park Service with Just You
America’s National Park Service is celebrating its centenary in 2016, so it will be a memorable year to visit the incredible natural wonders of Yellowstone, Yosemite National Park and the Grand Canyon.
Just You, the UK’s Single Traveller Specialist, offers four unique holidays to North America which feature the National Parks.
Since 1916, the American people have entrusted the National Park Service with the care of their national parks. With the help of volunteers and park partners, they safeguard these more than 400 places and share their stories with more than 275 million visitors every year.
The National Park Service and National Park Foundation are working closely with partners and stakeholders across the country to ensure that the Centennial is more than a birthday. They are encouraging people everywhere to explore, learn, be inspired or simply have fun in their 407 national parks.
The first National Park, Yellowstone, was signed into law by President Ulysses S. Grant in 1872, followed by Mackinac National Park in 1875 (decommissioned in 1895), and then Rock Creek Park (later merged into National Capital Parks), Sequoia and Yosemite in 1890.
Just You’s National Parks, Mount Rushmore and Little Bighorn allows travellers to step into the great wilderness and explore the vast National Parks, learn of bloody battles, tales of the Wild West and stand face-to-face with one of the world’s greatest natural wonders - the immense Grand Canyon. The tour takes travellers to the site of so many famous westerns in Monument Valley and watch the changing colours of the rock formations at Bryce Canyon and Zion.
Among Just You’s other escorted tours of the National Parks are America's Historic Trailhighlighting the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Yosemite, Grand Canyon & Classic California which focuses on the soaring mountains, stunning coastline and the must-see natural wonder that is the Grand Canyon, while Route 66 includes a visit to the Petrified Forest National Park.
Just You Tour Manager Tim Boaler said, “America’s National Parks are a true wonder to behold. It's difficult to focus on one single thing, as there is so much to admire about our National Parks tour.
“My own personal favourites would have to be, Yellowstone, as there is not another place like it on earth, the view of a herd of buffalo grazing in front of one of the major geysers is not one you could ever see anywhere else. Bryce Canyon, as the colours and rock shapes are so vivid and with a little imagination you can see anything you want in them.
“Zion Canyon has to be mentioned where it is easy to get away from people, sit in solitude and gaze at the sheer natural beauty of the world, and of course The Arches, where you really feel as though you are starring in an old western movie,” added Tim.
