DAY 1 - UK/New Orleans
Meet your travelling companions in the executive lounge, prior to your scheduled flight to New Orleans for a two night stay. Welcome drink this evening.
DAY 2 - New Orleans
Our included city tour of New Orleans takes us to see Jackson Square, the downtown district, Lake Pontchartrain, the Superdome and the famous French Quarter. Its narrow streets, wrought iron balconies, seafood restaurants and flowerbedecked verandas ring to the sound of authentic jazz from the bars and cafés of Bourbon Street. We include a two hour cruise along the Mississippi listening to live jazz on-board an authentic sternwheeler.
DAY 3 - Memphis
We leave New Orleans behind and drive to the city of Memphis for a three night stay.
DAY 4 - Memphis
Standing proudly on the bluffs of the mighty Mississippi, Memphis is an old town with a new face, both ‘old south’ and modern metropolis. The city’s strongest association is with the legendary Elvis Presley, whose home, Graceland, has become a mecca for thousands of visitors every year. We include a full day sightseeing tour of Memphis, featuring the famous Riverfront, Beale Street, the birthplace of the blues, Sun Studios, where the rock and roll greats began their careers and, of course, Graceland, where you will enjoy a tour of the house and grounds. This evening we include dinner at a local restaurant.
DAY 5 - Tupelo
On our included visit to Tupelo, we will see the house where Elvis was born, the museum and Memorial Chapel, also the church where the Presleys worshipped, Elvis’ first school, the Tupelo Fairgrounds and more.
DAY 6 - Nashville
We drive to Nashville for a three night stay, with a stop en route at the Jackson home of Casey Jones.
DAY 7 - Nashville
Both the capital of Tennessee and the country music capital of the world, Nashville is home to the Grand Ole Opry and the Country Music Hall of Fame. Our included full day sightseeing in Nashville visits Fort Nashborough the Parthenon replica, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Studio B, where so many of America’s greatest music stars have made recordings. This evening join our optional visit to the Nashville Nightlife Theatre for dinner and live music.
DAY 8 - Nashville
Relax or join optional excursions to the Hermitage Mansion or Opry Mills Shopping Mall and the Opryland Hotel. This evening we have included a visit to the Grand Ole Opry, the longest running radio live show.
DAY 9 - Gatlinburg & the Smoky Mountains National Park
We drive to Gatlinburg in the Smoky Mountains. This afternoon we include a tour of the Smoky Mountains National Park with a stop at the New Found Gap before transferring to our hotel for a two night stay.
DAY 10 - Smoky Mountains
Enjoy a day at leisure to admire the beauty of the Smoky Mountains National Park.
DAY 11 - Chatanooga
Today we drive to Chattanooga for a two night stay at the famous Chattanooga Choo Choo Holiday Inn. This former station has been converted into a hotel complete with station house restaurant and lavishly furnished rail cars. Upgraded bedrooms available in rail cars at a supplement.
DAY 12 - Chatanooga
This town was the inspiration for the Glen Miller Band song ‘Chattanooga Choo Choo’, which has been covered and parodied a number of times since its original 1941 release. Today we include a sightseeing tour of Chattanooga, where you will visit the Ruby Falls, Rock City Garden and the Lookout Mountain Incline Railway, the steepest in the world. The mountain towers 2,000ft above Chattanooga and on a clear day you can see five states. This afternoon we head to Lynchburg for a tour of the famous Jack Daniel’s Whiskey Distillery, which has been producing the famous tipple since the 1860s.
DAYS 13 & 14 - Atlanta/UK
We drive to Atlanta for your return flight to the UK, arriving next day.
