walking in andalucia - level of difficulty
I'm 60,of average fitness but not a hill walker. I am concerned that I wouldn't be sufficiently competent - with which routes in Scotland could those on the Andalucian trip be compared in terms of difficulty and exposure?
Thanks, Raithbrian |

walking in andalucia - level of difficulty
Hello
We rate the walking on this holiday as grades 2 and 3, which means some parts will be moderate and some will be more strenuous. Grade 2 involves up to 5 hours' walking a day and an ascent of up to 500m on more rugged terrain, while Grade 3 may feature around 5 hours' walking a day and an ascent of up to 1km on steeper, more mountainous terrain. A few years ago I walked the Devil's Staircase on the West Highland Way and found it reasonably challenging - probably more difficult than any of the walks you would be taking in Spain. My guess is that if you are of average fitness, you will be fine, but it might be a good idea to talk to your GP if you have any concerns about your health or fitness. Kind regards, Olly, your editor |
