We all mixed and got on well

I thoroughly enjoyed my Walks & Castles of the Moselle Valley holiday. It was the first time I had booked with you and, as a widow, the first time I had booked a singles’ holiday. The hotel had a lovely setting by the river and the excursions were all excellent, helped by the glorious weather. I liked the walking aspect, as it gave me a chance to mix freely with the others in the group. The group itself had quite a wide age range and a majority of females, but as Julie our Tour Manager said, we all seemed to get on well together. Julie had everything well organised and was knowledgeable about points of interest en route. Our coach driver was excellent too and took us on diversions to avoid roadworks she had heard about from other drivers and negotiated a gridlock in Bruges to ensure we reached our Channel Tunnel booking in time. As a single person it was good to have something organised for each evening. It can be very lonely on other types of holidays when you feel the odd one out and just go to your room after dinner. Many thanks for a lovely holiday and I hope to travel with you in the future.

I was recently widowed too, and although I feel desperately in need of a holiday I’ve been too scared to go on my own, until now that is having read what you had to say. Walking sounds a great idea. Hugh and I belonged to the Ramblers and you’re quite right it is a good way to mix, so I think I’ll give it a try. Thanks again.

I’ve been a widow for a long time now. A friend got a brochure sent to me and I’ve gone on four main holidays and two Christmas breaks and never been disappointed. I went walking on Evia last year, which I thoroughly enjoyed and added the Moselle Valley to my wish list for September.
