Robben Island
Hi everyone,

I am going to South Africa on July 26th with Just You and would really like to go to Robben Island whilst in Capetown. Is there anyone else going on the same departure date who would also like to visit Robben Island? As this has to be booked independently, I don't really want to go alone. I'm sure I won't be the only one but I don't know how else to find out.

Regards

Penny

RE: Robben Island
Hi Penny,
I did this tour last Sept and a couple of the group went to Robben Island, some had booked before going and the tour manager helped a couple of others who wanted to go to organise it once in Cape Town - but I wouldn't guarantee that you would be able to get tickets for the day you want to go. However, you would be missing the winelands tour through wonderful scenery - we went to three vineyards, including the world famous Nederburg and had tastings in each, a brilliant and fun day! The other full day in Cape Town we went on a Cape tour - stunning coastal scenery, the penguin colony at Simon's Town and more, another fantastic day.
Best wishes,
Bob

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the help.I'll probably wait until I get to Capetown and decide what to do then. Really looking forward to the trip - everyone says how wonderful it is!

RE: Robben Island
Hello Penny

I went to South Africa in March. Those that went to Robben Island did not book until they arrived in Cape Town. The tour manager/local guide will assist you. Unlike Bob, I thought the winelands tour was awful and wished I had gone to the island. I think having a sore throat did not help!

Enjoy
Sylvia

I think it must have been the sore throat that did it Sylvia!
Best wishes,

RE: Robben Island
Hi Penny,

I am going to SA in July. Leaving from Durban and doing a drive down to Cape Town via garden route. Maybe go to Namibia and Angola. Beautiful part of the world. I have just discovered JY. Cool site. Here is a thread I posted the other day: http://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/th...#20016767.

You will love SA. I grew up there. If you need any tips or travel advice then just ask.

Cheers,

Ollie
