Very disappointing

Doreen and Nigel - very sorry to hear of your experiences. Like you I want to travel the world and JY is the perfect set-up for doing so. I'm concerned that they are having to drastically reduce their number of long haul tours, presumably from a lack of demand and I am mentally preparing myself for the likelihood of having to go with Travelsphere for quite a number of holidays in the coming years. However, be reassured I've asked a lot of people travelling with JY have they ever travelled with Travelsphere as a single traveller and many have - with only one exception (who was a bit of a loner on our tour in any case) everyone I asked has said they didn't feel odd or out of place on any Travelshpere hol they'd done - that there could be 4-6 other single travellers and they found the "couples" very friendly and always hooked up with a few folks, either singles or couples to go around with, so take heart and who knows we may meet up on either a JY or Travelsphere hol at some time in the future!

PS I'm booked to go on Travelsphere's Chile, Argentina and Brazil in Sept as a single traveller (but travelling with a friend whom I met on a JY hol last year!!) so if you're interested, I can tell you of my experiences when I return!

Oh dear - now I understand why this cancellation has been doubly disappointing.
I went on a tour of Eastern Europe with another company who only had 4 'single' places. The other 3 singles barely mixed with rest of the group but I didn't have to 'latch on to' anyone as I was made very welcome and was invited to join different couples. I made sure that I did not 'outstay my welcome' but as we spent so much time as a group it wasn't a problem.
Try to be positive and look forward to your trip. You have wanted to go so much and you know, it will depend on what you make of it. On my very first JY trip I was as apprehensive as the next person but I rationalised that if I didn't get on with a single person, there was so much to see and do that I would enjoy it anyway - and then just put it down to 'experience' and write it off. Of course, it didn't work out that way at all - I had a great time and have never looked back. I used this tactic when I did the Eastern Europe trip too - and Yes you've guessed it - I had a great time on that one too. So be open-minded - and have a great holiday!! So much to see, so much to do ....

Just had my first taster weekend cancelled this morning (lack of interest apparently) been offered an alternative on a different date................doesn't bode well me thinks.

Oh dear! I have booked the Holy Land trip for October. I too will be disappointed if it is cancelled. Nige, perhaps you can switch your cancelled holiday to October! Maybe people are a bit nervous of travelling to Israel in case there is a conflict with Iran and that is the reason Just You did not get enough travellers for the trip. Don't lose your sleep over this, there are far more important things in life than a cancelled holiday.

Think if this happens to me that will be the end of me even trying as it's taken so much courage to book. I understand that the trip to China on the 22nd August has only five booked on so I guess it is fairly high risk.
