Lisa, TM - America's National Parks & Canyons 13/03/12
Hello Everyone,
I would like to introduce myself as your Tour Manager on this fun, scenic tour. The southwestern United States has some very unique scenery and you will see some of the best the area has to offer on this holiday. If anyone has a question about the holiday, feel free to post it here - I am happy to help out if I can. Not long now, I look forward to meeting all of you on the 13th! Kind regards, Lisa |

Everyone tells me they were nervous the first time - until they reached the airport and started meeting their fellow travellers... Am still waiting to hear how many we have on tour - I usually receive my rooming list 2 weeks before tour. It's a popular tour, usually 30-40 in the group - all ages! It's also a favorite tour of mine (I have lots of favorites), of course I am biased as I grew up in that part of the US! ![]() About a month before I departure, I will post my packing "tips" for this tour and general info about weather, etc. Check back in if you have any questions... We'll be meeting up before you know it! Cheers, Lisa |

I really believe you will enjoy it - it's a very popular tour. Guests tell me all time how nervous they were on their first holiday, but once they arrive to the airport and begin meeting fellow travellers they really start to relax. Don't be shy about looking out for the JUST YOU luggage tags at the airport and introduce yourself! Put one on your hold luggage AND your hand luggage so they can recognize you too... Weather in March can be varied - I advise layers. You will have a coat anyway to arrive to the airport, try to bring an "all purpose" one that you can use on tour as well. It should be 55-62F in Phoenix/Las Vegas during the day - chillier in the evenings. Flagstaff and Bryce Canyon will be colder. Could even be a little dusting of snow at Bryce - it's beautiful! I will post more info on weather and packing for the tour about a month before departure so check back in. Really looking forward to meeting you - not long now! Cheers, Lisa |

RE: Lisa, TM - America's National Parks & Canyons 13/03/12
Hi Lisa,
Remember me? Dolomites 2010. I hope you are well. I see you are doing the National Parks & Canyons in March and although you encouraged me to think about America, I am going to Peru on that date. How great is that? I did take your advice about America though and I am doing Route 66 on 3rd September (I have always wanted to do this and was part of the campaign to get it included for 2012). Maybe I'll see you then. I am sorry I did not see you in Italy in September but Ann made the trip memorable and I had a great birthday. Have a great tour - make sure those new Just You folks have a good time. Be happy, Best wishes, Lesley

13/03/12 America's Na Parks & Canyons - Packing Tips
Hello Everyone!
Just a month to go! I hope "ya'll" are as excited as I am - I love this tour! Below are my packing/preparation tips... Historic averages for the dates we will be in the following: Phoenix: high 72°F / low 52°F Flagstaff: high 50°F / low 24°F (elevation 5000 ft.) Grand Canyon: high 53°F / low 20°F (elevation 5000 ft.) Bryce Canyon: high 45°F / low 16°F brrrr... (elevation 7-9000 ft.) Las Vegas: high 75°F / low 50°F Please remember, these are long range forecasts and actual weather could be warmer or colder! It's ideal to pack "layers". Long sleeve tees, jumpers, fleece, etc. You will want a warm jacket/coat for Flagstaff and Bryce - and perhaps a scarf and gloves, etc. One hotel has an indoor hot tub that is quite large...so bathing costume if you wish. Absolutely a pair of warm, comfortable shoes with a "grip" for walking the canyons. They needn't be "hiking boots" (unless you wish), but a good grip is desirable. Attire in the US is casual. If you wish, bring a few smart/casual or slightly dressy things for an evening or two in Las Vegas - remember, it's coolish in the evenings.... Cowboy attire is optional You will have plenty of shopping opps so leave a bit of space in you case if you're a shopper...Other than attire, you may wish to bring inexpensive binoculars if you like "birding" - a camera is indispensible! (don't forget the charger and adapter to US 2 prong) Elec current is 110-120V. All hotels have hairdryers and irons, so toss those out of your case. Most hotels have US style coffee makers in room - but no kettles or teabags and only powder milk sachets. 2 hotels have free computer/internet usage in the lobby. Currency - US dollars. You can use ATM/cash points machines. Don't forget to inform your bank you are going abroad so they don't block your credit/debit card. Bring your PIN number. Traveller's cheques are no longer advised - they are getting harder to cash. If you already have some - please, only US $ cheques. (not £) Excursions - both the heli over the Grand Canyon (amazing) and the boat trip can be booked in resort - heli only can be paid by credit card. A copy of your passport info page is always a good idea and don't forget to complete your ESTA form at least 72 hours prior to departure! All that's left to do is tick off the days! Looking forward to meeting everyone! I will be flying from Heathrow - look out for me or one of our fabulous, helpful airport reps at check-in. All the best to everyone, Lisa |

RE: Lisa, TM - America's National Parks & Canyons 13/03/12
Hi Lesley,
Of course I remember you... I know, it was a shame we couldn't meet up in Sorrento last year, we were like "two ships passing in the night"! I'm so glad you enjoyed your B'day and the Sorrento area, did you love Amalfi? Wish I could have been the one to show it to you, but you must confess it would have been a bit of a detour from the Dolomites! Hope you have a fab tour in Peru - I would love to do that tour one day. I know you will enjoy Route 66 - that one I have done (TS) - it's a blast. Let me know if you have any ?s... We'll meet up again one day, until then I wish you all the best. Lisa (13/02/2012 01:05 PM)LovelyLesley1 Wrote: Hi Lisa, |
