Hi Lain,

The visa is done in advance, you will receive correspondence from Just You (or Page & Moy) and you will have to send them your passport to have the visa put in, it takes around 3 weeks, I went at end of September and my visa was valid from 1 August.

Regards,

martin

Lain

When I went on this tour JY sorted out the visa, they requested the passports and got it all done and then sent the passports back, I cannot remember how long it took. maybe ring the office and see what they have to say.

Thanks both. What type of clothing is best when out...are shorts/t-shirts and decent footwear okay or best to cover with lightweight shirts/trousers?

I went in October and it was VERY HOT and HUMID...I wore vest ttops with a light overshirt and 3/4 troussers/shorts for the safari days.. do NOT wear bright colours as attracts all the flies ..spent most of the time in flip flop type shoes.Take plenty of wipe wipes or the hand cleansing gel type of stuff as you do get hot and sticky..also packets of tissues, as the toilets are not the best !!!

I got back from this trip in early October, I took a mixture of Kenyan Shillings, Pounds & Dollars (total of around £1000), didn't touch the dollars and used the pounds to pay for the trips when in Mombassa and just spent the Kenyan Shillings, you will be surprised at just how little money you need, in total I probably spent around £450, but it will depend on how much you intend to buy which will determine how much money you need, for wooden carvings I would suggest doing the half day mombassa trip and buying from the Co-operative you vist rather than the beach and other traders.

Have a great time.

Martin

THANK YOU MARTIN
Advice much appreciated

Hi Steph, thanks for responding, thought I was the only one going on this trip, like you this is my first trip with just you but the reviews have been quite positive.I think Iv'e sorted out most things will get money later.I'm around same age group as you,and travelling from Edinburgh.I will keep in touch with you If thats ok,at least we've made contact,I feel alot better now. BFN Mary

How are you taking money? in Cash, or Travellers Cheques, or one of the new cash cards where you pay the currency on first?

Are you using Just You Travel Insurance? I thought it looked a bit expensive and am looking around for something cheaper. I live in Camberley, Surrey by the way.

Hi,Steph,I will probably take cash in Kenyan Shillings and the credit card for emergencies.I have my own insurance which is annual and is world cover,Check out the internet for deals and the cover you want usually cheaper and you can take it for one trip or annual whatever suits your needs.Just finished Xmas shopping at last.Going to London for Christmas so can't send in my passport for Visa until 27 Dec.Will keep in touch good to hear from you.
Regards Mary (Merry Chrismas)

Hi,

Just so you are aware, you can get kenyan shillings before you go, I got mine from Tesco, ordered on line and they were delivered to me at home.

Have a great trip,

Martin
