DAY 1 - UK/Corfu
Depart on your scheduled flight to Corfu. On arrival transfer to your hotel in the Kanoni area close to Corfu Town overlooking the famous Mouse Island, for a seven night stay. The rest of the afternoon is free for you to relax before enjoying a welcome drink before dinner tonight.
DAY 2 - Palaiokastritsa
Today we travel to Palaiokastritsa in the northwest of the island. From here, we walk towards Lakones through beautiful green scenery, stopping to admire the spectacular views of the island. An hour’s walk brings us to a local restaurant, where we enjoy yet more wonderful views, a glass of ouzo and a plate of meze - assorted Greek delicacies. After eating, our walk continues along another path to the ruined Aggelokastro, or Angel Castle.
DAY 3 - Kanoni
You are at leisure today to make the most of your hotel’s facilities, or why not join our optional morning excursion to Corfu Town. We will take a panoramic drive then enjoy a walking tour of the old town, along the esplanade and through the narrow streets. We will see the mayor’s building, visit the magnificent church of Agios Spyridon and the Byzantine museum. The afternoon is free. This evening we offer an optional drive to the beautiful village of Kinopiastes, visiting an olive oil museum for a demonstration. We’ll then walk to the Trypas tavern for a traditional Corfian meal and dancing.
DAY 4 - Royal Palaces
Our included excursion today takes us to the Achilleion Palace, a beautiful villa built for Empress Elizabeth after the death of her son. The palace now houses a casino and a small museum, while the beautiful gardens are adorned with superb statues and offer magnificent views over Corfu and the sea. From the palace we journey to Perama, from where there are beautiful views across to Pontikonisi, or Mouse Island. We then travel to the stunning gardens at Mon-Repos Palace, famous as the birthplace of the Duke of Edinburgh. Enjoy a walking tour of the gardens with their lush greenery and aristocratic atmosphere.
DAY 5 - Kanoni
Enjoy a day at leisure to make your own discoveries, perhaps taking a walk to Mouse Island.
DAY 6 - Glyfada
Sure to be a highlight of your holiday, today’s excursion takes us for a short walk through the Glyfada area, known as hidden Corfu, before heading to the Spyros Tavern, where the owner – Mr Spyros – will introduce us to the secrets of Greek cuisine! Enjoy a demonstration of Greek cookery before sitting down to sample the food you have just watched Mr Spyros prepare. The afternoon is at leisure back at the hotel..
DAY 7 - Pantokrator
Join our optional excursion today to discover a treasure trove of hidden paths. Our coach drops us at the villageof Strinila on Mount Pantokrator, the highest mountain on the island. We then take a glorious two hour walk down the mountainside through beautiful vegetation. On our way down the hill, we will pass through a village, Episkepsi, before ending our walk in Roda, where we rejoin the coach and return to the hotel along a gloriously winding road with the best views of the island. Enjoy a farewell get-together at the hotel this evening.
DAY 8 - Corfu/UK
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
