Walking Information-Grade 1

Our walks require a reasonable level of fitness and ideally some previous walking experience. You will need comfortable walking boots, a small rucksack, waterproofs, a hat and sunglasses. A local guide will also accompany you on your walks.

Your Accommodation

You will stay in the comfortable Hotel Zum Weissen Kreuz, centrally situated in Altenahr. Run by the Hoppe family, the hotel has a bar, restaurant, and lift. All bedrooms have private bathroom and some have a balcony.

Your Itinerary

Day 1 UK/Altenahr
Local departure by coach and an afternoon crossing to Calais. Evening arrival in Altenahr for a four night stay.

Days 2 to 4 Altenahr
Free to relax and enjoy our programme of included excursions: Meals: B/D

Introduction to Altenahr - Walk into the hills around the resort and enjoy the views on the way. If you are keen for more, take a stroll around the picturesque Langfigtal Nature Reserve just outside the town (approx. 2 hours’ walk).

Red Wine Trail - We follow the scenic trails through the Ahr Valley directly from your resort. After a guided morning walk along the famous Red Wine Trail (approx. 3 hours’ walk), we meet the coach and continue to the pretty, old walled town of Ahrweiler. Explore or relax in Ahrweiler before a return coach transfer back to your hotel.

Eifel Explorer - We enjoy a walk in the surrounding Eifel Hills, followed by a visit to the charming medieval town of Bad Münstereifel, returning to your hotel via the giant radio-telescope (approx. 2 hours’ walk).

Music & Wine Evenings - On one evening there will be live music in the hotel and an included wine tasting on another.

Enjoy a welcome drink on day 2.

Day 5 Altenahr/UK
Depart after breakfast for a late afternoon crossing back to the UK, returning to your original departure point in the evening. Meals: B
