Day 1 UK/Dinant
Local departure by coach and mid-morning crossing to Calais. Continue through to Belgium, arriving at your hotel in the early evening for a four night stay. In the evening enjoy a welcome drink and dinner.
Day 2 Brewery visit & Dinant
Join our included morning excursion to Purnode for a visit to Du Bocq Brewery,including a tasting. We then visit the town of Dinant, dominated by the Citadel perched on top of a cliff high above the town. You will also visit the magnificent Cathedral of Notre Dame with its splendid bronze onion dome.
There is an optional afternoon excursion to Han-sur-Lesse to visit the caves. These underground passageways have been crafted over the years from the force of the water that flows through them and they are well-worth a visit.
Day 3 Namur & Villers Abbey
Today’s full day included excursion takes you to Namur, a city full of ancient architecture and interesting sights. We visit the Delforge perfumery to learn what is involved in the process of producing perfume and then enjoy some free time to explore the city. After lunch, we’ll visit the ruins of the Villers Abbey. Dating back to 1146, this was once an impressive collection of buildings, but over the centuries it fell into disrepair. Today it is a collection of majestic ruins and one of the most important historic sights in the area.
Day 4 Durbuy, Defroidmont Chocolate Factory & la Roche-en-ardennes
Today we include a visit to the tiny town of Durbuy, with its quaint cobbled streets lined with houses that date back to the 17th century. We then head to Erezee, where we visit the Defroidmont Chocolate Factory for a truly Belgian treat! Enjoy a short film and demonstration to show you the various stages of chocolate making, followed by a tasting of the delicious treats. This afternoon, we head to La-Roche-en- Ardennes to visit the Battle of the Bulge Museum, which commemorates this famous WWII battle. On our return journey we visit the WWII cemetery in Hotton to pay our respects to the fallen. This evening enjoy a farewell get-together.
Day 5 Dinant/UK
After a morning departure you visit Tournai, one of Belgium’s oldest cities forsome free time and lunch before reaching Calais in time for a late afternoon crossing back to the UK. Return to your original departure point in the evening.
