Your accommodation
You will stay at the 4-star Hotel Quinta Do Sol set on a hillside less than a mile from the centre of Funchal. The hotel features a restaurant, coffee shop, lounge and cocktail bar. Entertainment is provided on most evenings. Outside enjoy the heated swimming pool with snack bar, and rooftop sun terrace. All bedrooms feature private facilities, TV, telephone, hairdryer and safe. (Sea view rooms available at a supplement).
Your itinerary
Day 1: UK/Funchal
Meet your travelling companions at the airport and depart on your scheduled flight to Funchal. Transfer to your hotel for a seven night stay and enjoy a welcome drink and dinner.

Funchal
We include an introductory tour of the city’s old quarter with visits to the Botanical Gardens, an embroidery factory, and an opportunity to sample the famous Madeira wine.
The following excursions are optional:
Island Tour
A full-day tour, including lunch, to see the real beauty of the island from the natural park of Ribeiro Frio to the waterfalls of Sao Vicente and the volcanic rock pools at Porto Moniz.
Crater & Toboggan
A half-day excursion to the crater of an extinct volcano at Nun’s Valley. You continue to the village of Monte for the chance to take an exhilarating toboggan ride down the steep three-mile hill in to Funchal below. The traditional wicker toboggans are pushed by two men who use the rubber soles of their boots as a brake!
Levada Walk
Enjoy beautiful scenery and magnificent views as you walk along the island’s water channels, known as levadas (approx. 2 hours’ walk). On the final evening enjoy a farewell get-together.

Day 8: Funchal/UK
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
