Day 2 Bangkok
Arrival in Bangkok for a four night stay. Dinner at your hotel this evening. Meals: D
Day 3 Bangkok
Today we include a sightseeing tour of the sprawling city of Bangkok. Situated on the Chao Praya River, it is a charming and fascinating amalgam of saffron-robed Buddhist monks, floating markets, street stalls and exotic restaurants. You will also pay a visit to the famous Rose Gardens, where many aspects of Thai culture are on display. This evening, we include a welcome drink before sitting down to enjoy a special Thai dinner and the performance of traditional dancing. Exquisitely costumed dancers will elegantly re-enact stories from classical Thai literature and folk tales. Meals: B/L/D
Day 4 Bangkok
There will be the opportunity to visit the floating market at Damnern Saduak this morning. Lunch with a cooking demonstration at Supatra River House is included. This afternoon, enjoy an included visit to The Grand Palace, a beautiful ancient Siamese court where you will see a selection of palaces and the stunning Emerald Buddha Temple. Meals: B/L/D
Day 5 River Kwai
You are free to relax, explore Bangkok independently, or join our optional visit to Kanchanaburi on the River Kwai, site of the infamous bridge and start of the ‘Death Railway’. It is a fascinating drive through the Thai countryside, passing rice paddies and sugar cane plantations. Meals: B/D
Day 6 Phitsanulok
We visit Uthai Thani, the former summer capital of Siam, en route to Phitsanulok for an overnight stay. Optional trishaw ride to see the famous food market at night. Meals: B/L/D
Day 7 Sukhothai/Chiang Rai
We leave Phitsanulok behind and drive to Sukhothai, the ancient capital of Siam, where the famous stone inscription of King Ramkamhaeng – the creator of the Thai alphabet – was discovered. The journey continues to Sri Satachanalai and on to Chiang Rai, where you will stay for the next two nights. Meals: B/L/D
Day 8 Chiang Saen
The morning will be spent exploring the mountain tribe villages of the region and Mae Sai, the northernmost point in Thailand, located on the Burmese border. During the afternoon a stop will be made at the ruined city of Chiang Saen, which enjoys a delightful setting on the banks of the Mekong River. An optional boat ride is available. Meals: B/L/D
Day 9 Chiang Mai
Morning drive to Chiang Mai for a two night stay. In the afternoon we visit a local handicrafts market. Meals: B/L/D
Day 10 Chiang Mai
Today we include a visit to an elephant camp on the outskirts of Chiang Mai. Here you will see a demonstration of working elephants and perhaps take an optional elephant ride and a bamboo raft ride. This afternoon you will take a trip to the famous Chiang Mai cottage industries. The industries include silk, paper umbrellas, silverware, lacquer ware and jewellery. Meals: B/L/D
Day 11 Chiang Mai/Cha am
Transfer to the airport for the return flight to Bangkok and drive to the beach resort of Cha am. Cha am is a popular resort where life is enjoyed at a leisurely pace. It is located on a quiet unspoilt sandy beach, 20 minutes from Hua Hin. Spend four nights relaxing on the beach. Why not upgrade to a sea view room. Meals: B/L/D
Days 12 to 14 Cha am
You are free to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of your hotel, which is located beside the Gulf of Thailand. A choice of optional excursions will be available to show you the best of the region. There will be farewell drinks at the hotel on day 14. Meals: B/L/D
Day 15 Bangkok/UK
Morning transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. Evening arrival in the UK. Meals: B
