DAY 1 - UK/Kuala Lumpur
Meet your travelling companions in the executive lounge prior to your scheduled flight to Kuala Lumpur.
DAY 2 - Kuala Lumpur
On arrival in Kuala Lumpur, we transfer to our hotel for a three night stay. After lunch we take a short tour of the administrative area of the city, where we will view the Prime Ministers office building and the Putra Mosque. This evening enjoy a welcome drink before dinner at the hotel.
DAY 3 - Kuala Lumpur
Our morning sightseeing tour of Kuala Lumpur takes us to visit Karyakaneka Handicraft Centre, the National Monument and Cenotaph. We stop to take photos at the major sites including the Petronas Towers, the Gate of the King’s Palace and the National Mosque. We continue to a local factory to see how the various types of Malaysian batik are produced and call in at the world’s largest pewter factory, Royal Selangor. During the day we will have lunch at a local restaurant. This evening, we will enjoy a cultural night including dinner and a show. Driving past the Sri Mahamariamman Temple, we will visit the bustling night bazaar in Chinatown before an evening of colourful Malaysian dances and a mock Malay wedding whilst savouring delicious local cuisine.
DAY 4 - Malacca
Today we visit Malacca, which is a living museum and testimony to its colourful past of Malay Sultanates, Portuguese, Dutch and English influences. The city is built in a series of twisting, turning alleys along the river. We will see A Formosa, the only remaining gate of a once formidable Portuguese colony, St. Paul’s Hill, the Dutch Square and Chinese Hill. After a lunch typical of the region, we visit the ancient Cheng Hoon Teng temple, followed by a stroll through the street of antiques. Before returning to Kuala Lumpur, we will take a short trishaw ride around the city. This evening, enjoy what has to be a highlight of our holiday – dinner at the revolving restaurant at the KL Tower. Located at 282 metres above the ground, we will enjoy incredible panoramic views of Kuala Lumpur at night as we eat.
DAY 5 - Kuala Kangsar & Penang
Leaving Kuala Lumpur behind, we travel into Perak State, famous for its tin mines, cave temples and royal palaces, and visit Perak Tong, a fascinating example of a cave temple. We continue to the royal town of Kuala Kangsar and visit the centuries old palace, now a museum and the enchanting Ubudiah Mosque. Our journey continues with a boat trip to Bukit Merah Orang Utan Island, where we will get an up-close and personal look at how Orang Utans live and interact with their surroundings. Our journey then takes us across the eight mile-long bridge to Penang for a four night stay.
DAY 6 - Penang
Our morning sightseeing tour of Penang takes us to Georgetown, capital of the island to see the ruins of Fort Cornwallis, the Temple of the Reclining Buddha and the Burmese Temple. We will drive passed the old colonial mansions and visit the magnificent Khoo Kongsi, a clan house, built by expert Chinese craftsmen, before strolling round the exotic flora and fauna in the botanical gardens. We enjoy both lunch and dinner in local restaurants.
DAY 7 - Penang
Today we head to the beautiful Payar Island for a full day tour of this protected marine park. With sandy beaches and incredible coral reefs, the island has much to enchant its visitors. Spend time admiring the beautiful coral and spectacularly colourful marine life from aboard a glass-bottomed boat. Lunch will be a buffet on the viewing platform. Return to the hotel late afternoon. This evening we include a seafood dinner at a local restaurant.
DAY 8 - Penang
You are free in Penang to make your own discoveries today. Alternatively, join an optional tour to see more of the island. Enjoy a farewell get together this evening.
DAY 9 - Penang/UK
Transfer to the airport this morning for your return flight to the UK via Kuala Lumpur. As you will be flying westwards your arrival is later the same day.
