You will stay at the Oasis Hotel, just a short distance from the Pyramids at Giza. Situated within nine acres of landscaped gardens, the hotel boasts an outdoor swimming pool, health club and spa, and a selection of bars and restaurants. The comfortable guest rooms all have private facilities, TV, telephone, air-conditioning, safe and hairdryer.
Day 1 UK/Cairo
Depart on your scheduled flight to Cairo. On arrival transfer to your hotel in the city for a three night stay.
Day 2 Cairo
Today we include a fascinating full day tour to the legendary Pyramids and the Sphinx. The great Pyramids of Giza stand on a rocky plateau on the western bank of the Nile. They are the most famous, intensely measured, studied and debated monuments in the world and stand as an imperishable landmark to the geometrical accuracy and technical skill that went into their making. As you stand at the foot of any Pyramid, you can’t help but gaze up in awe at their size and stature, as they tower up towards the sky. The Great Pyramid of Cheops alone is constructed from two and a half million hand-carved limestone blocks and reaches a point at 450 feet above the ground. Close to the Pyramids lies the magnificent Sphinx, a huge statue of a recumbent lion with a human head believed to be fashioned in the likeness of the Pharaoh Chephren.
We then visit Saqqara. Few archaeological sites in the world can compare with this four-milelong burial site. The magnificent Step Pyramid is the highlight. Finally we reach the ruins of Memphis, the former capital of Old Egypt. This evening, we offer the opportunity to return to the Pyramids at Giza for a magical sound and light show (optional). Day 3 Cairo
Today we include a trip to the world famous Egyptian Museum, which houses the richest store of remains including the treasures from the tombs of Tutankhamun and other Pharaohs. We then continue to the magnificent Citadel and Mohamed Ali’s Mosque before visiting the Khan El Khalili Bazaar to barter for a few souvenirs before returning to the hotel. Join us this evening for an optional dinner cruise along the mighty River Nile, an experience that is sure to be a highlight of your break. Meals: B
Day 4 Cairo/UK
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. Meals: B
